Why hasn't this thread died yet?

Why would there be a Splatoon reference? Of all games -- why Splatoon? It's neither iconic nor topical (Yooka-Laylee is going to be released at the end of 2016).

The only references it should have are to Rare games.
Donkey Kong 64, the Banjo Kazooie series, Conker, and so on and so forth.

Otherwise it wouldn't make sense.
