Low Polygon Graphics Option

Postby mitchmat518 » Sat Mar 28, 2015 4:09 pm

I was thinking how cool it would be to have one of the kickstarter stretch goals be the option to change all the in game graphics to a low poly renders. Really emphasize the n64 inspiration.

Obviously it would just be an option. It doesn't seem like this would be too hard to do.

What do you guys think?

I would like it! In a funny-nostalgic way of course. But I wonder how much work would be put into this. Weren't all the objects & characters on the N64 designed to look good with low polygons? Maybe they'd need to put some extra work in Ukulele's models for this low-poly mode. But I don't know, seriously... :)

If it was a really expensive stretch goal maybe. They'd need to make all new models. They could possibly not need to re-animate if they could use the same skeletons.

I'd definitely be in favor of it so that I could play it on a PC, hehe.
Woaaaah, it finally came out! :o

It would be quite hilarious to have an option that turns the game from having glorious HD graphics, to a 64-bit style one. So I'm definitely in favour of it being in the game.

If Nintendo did it with Star Fox 64 3D, then yes. I approve of this "optional" low-polygon, N64 version option.

I would love this is a stretch goal but you could probably even leave it up to the community.

Only as a late stretch goal. I don't want them to waste their time and money on something only a handful of fans will appreciate.

Definitely, too many cooks spoil the broth and some of these things could be left up to the community.

Eh, I dunno. It's too much work for something that isn't really worth it. They'd have to basically re-do the entire game... I'd rather have extra worlds or gamemodes. Also, this isn't the same as Star Fox 64 since Nintendo just ported it from the N64 (it didn't require even a fraction of the work that Playtonic would have to do to pull this off).
