I'm not really sure if this is something that can easily be done, I'm by no means a graphics genius, but wouldn't it mean that they would have to redo all the textures, models etc.?

Someone earlier said about Lylat Wars 3D, but Playtonic is an Indie dev made of a few people whereas Nintendo have hundreds of people... also, it was a port of an existing game.

By all means I think it would be a great addition, but not if it's something that would detract from other things Playtonic could implement

Just because I'm not posting doesn't mean I am stalking your every move, determining my next course of action...

I think it would be like any hi res pack, only the opposite. I'm sure the community will fill that niche.

This kinda reminds me of the optional lofi filter that you could activate when you were playing through Broken Age. It made the game look all pixelated like an old LucasArts game. It was a cool little throwback though I didn't really leave it on for very long. That was just applying a filter though, so they didn't have to redo any game assets. This would require significantly more work unless they figure out a way to procedurally simplify models and still have them look good.
I'm not sure how feasible this is but I think it would be really cool.

I guess it'll be useful for people who can't get a decent framerate when playing it on PC. ;)
Bring on Yooka-Laylee! :D

I see it quite difficult... but the game is divided in "chapters" as a book, right? It might be interesting create one of them inspired by N64 graphics. Maybe an "Spiral heights"? ;) hahaha

Even though it would be an option, it would be nice that, if Playtonic might eventually do it, they should learn a thing or two about

This idea of a lower poly "N64/PS1" level graphics feature is kinda great, I don't know if I'd use it often, but having it like a bonus cheat code thing you can use maybe it shouldn't be terribly hard for the developers to make.
I mean, there should be LOD (Level of Detail) models in the making, they could just make it so everything is on lowest when the feature is on, and then it'd be a matter of maybe putting N64 level textures on everything (maybe?). Or even a kinda old CTR TV filter :D

Also to get that N64 feel you should definitely turn off anisotropic filtering. This stuff was so ugly back then haha.

Personally I don't care about how low the settings should go. I'm not nostalgic about the graphics at all, if anything it's what I abhor the most about the N64.

I'm playing a modern Unity made game at the moment, and I run it with everything maxed out on a GTX 460... Maybe Project Ukulele won't be as easy to run though, the game I'm playing isn't too pretty (Assault Android Cactus). If it does however, not many people will have to go with low settings. :D

No, just more work and development time making sure characters don't fall thru seams. Also, UV maps would have to be redone for every object. It would be so ugly, hardly a nostalgia trip.

Would be nice to see. But I won't lose sleep over it, if it doesn't happen.
