Which version to choose?

Postby Rarebear » Sun Jul 19, 2015 8:11 pm

Hey guys.

I pledged for the console version. Recently I got an email that says I have to choose the platform of my choice.

Now my question is:

Does anybody know if the PS4 version will definitely look better than the Wii U version? I have both consoles and I would prefer the graphically better version if there aren´t any features with the gamepad etc. that improve the Wii U version.

Thanks in advance.

It's really too early to say at this point. :/ I'd say just get the version that's most convenient for you, add it to the library you want to build.

Worst case scenario they're the same performance if you pick the PS4 version. The only two scenarios are that the Wii U version is just as powerful or weaker, so I'd pick PS4 to be on the safe side if you can't pick PC.

If you are going for graphics and want the best, the PS4.
However, a tool is only as good as the master who wields it.

This is impossible to predict, but I would go with the PS4. Playtonic would have to lock the performance or screw up the coding so badly to get it in line with Wii U performance.

However, one single argument for getting the Wii U version is free internet play. If Playtonic elects to put in online multiplayer then you would win economically.

Thanks a lot for your answers. I think I have to go with the PS4 version, although I am more a Nintendo guy.

I picked the Xbox One version but if a Yooka-Laylee Amiibo happens I'll pick up the Wii U version as well

Same as SUPERSONICBOOM. I just think it feels right to get it on Xbone as Rare's new games will be there, as well as Banjo 1, 2, and 3. I'll probably also end up getting the Wii U version, just to see a Banjo style game from the Banjo team on Nintendo again.

Personally i was debating between PC and Wii U and went with PC.
Resoning: When it comes to graphical fidelity and fps PC usually takes the lead, then i can connect my pc to my TV and play with a usb xbox contoller anyways.
Why thinking about the Wii U version then? Well, i'm curious about what they're doing with the tablet controller or, even though i feel it's unlikely, amiibo.

PS4 and Xbox1 to me just seem like inferior PC versions with no specials - if you own a good, or probably even just a medicore pc.

The PC version is the most stable version if you have the right PC. You will have the highest framerate, one of the best graphics, etc...
The PS4 and XBox1 Version can be bad with framerate, because face it Steven Hurst and Jens Restemeier are working on it. The famous 12Fps on N64, ~~memories.
Nah just kidding, the framerate can be bad, but mostly because of the console itself. But the graphics will be the same as PC, if not a bit weaker.
Now the last part, the WiiU can have a major graphics problem, but only if Steven Mayles, need to make all enemies 4K. The framerate on the other hand, that can be a problem.
But without the final product, we can't say it for sure.

I don't think it'll matter in the slightest which version you choose - there's zero evidence that on PS4/Xbone the game will be any prettier than on Wii U or that the PC version will be that much nicer than than the others.

They're hardly going to make massive differences between different console versions - to declare out of nowhere that the Wii U version will have framerate issues is just pulling conjecture out of the air.

I'm getting the Wii U version because I own a Wii U. That's all the thought I'm putting into it.

I picked the Wii U version because that just feels right to me for nostalgia's sake, and I need something to play on the thing, but I plan on also getting the Xbox One version because that's my primary console currently, and "mah acheesements, you guys!1!1".
No, not all Xbox owners are dudebros who love grey-and-brown PvP FPSes. Please feel free to quit stereotyping now.
