What would you want the new "Stop n Swop" to be like in PU?

Postby Meelow » Sun Mar 29, 2015 3:40 am

So I just finished Banjo Kazooie (Project Ukulele made me want to replay it and will also reply BT) and I did the codes and got the Stop n Swop eggs and key, I know the history of it so I rather not go through all that.

But what would you want it to be like? Would you want it to be like Banjo Kazooie where there are no clues anywhere and the codes are deeply hidden in the game and when you get the Stop n Swop items it be a secret for Project Ukulele 2? Or Something like Banjo Tooie where it was actually implemented in the game more.

Or something new. Thoughts?

"Stop 'N' Swop" is very specific. The name strongly implies a connection with another game. If there were to be connections with future Playtonic games (which is a good possibility considering the connected universe they're going for), I'd want it to be like Banjo-Kazooie. Tooie's version wasn't mysterious at all and you didn't even need to own Kazooie.

I want Playtonic to hide things deep in the data. Like they said in the presentation, I want them to hide things in the game that will take us months, or years, to find. Looking for secrets can really add a lot of replay value to a game. I've been playing Banjo-Kazooie for almost two decades...

I agree, I think Rare was the only gaming company to put secrets in a game where you would need the sequel to unlock in the original

I can't wait to find the secrets!

Hiding things is impossible with today's tech.

I would want Playtonic to do their own thing, without us clueless nancies providing senseless input.
Seriously.
They have proven their worth. We as fans have only proven how clueless, fickle and, entitled we are.
We need to shut the front door, and let them get on with it.
I dont want a game built by us.
How about we just lay off with the silly suggestions.
Unless of course you donate 1000$ then mmaybe you can get your name in the credits.
90% of the ideas around here are abysmal and, if the devs are watching these forums for inspiration they wouldn't know whether to poop or go blind.
I want a game built by gamemakers not internet forum lurkers with high post counts.
I dont want our input to impact this game whatsoever.

The devs wouldn't have opened the forums if they wanted to lock themselves away from outside input. They made it markedly clear that they want the fans to be involved. I agree that Playtonic should follow their own creative vision, but telling fans to stop speculating and asking for opinions on these forums is absurd. The title of this thread, for example, begins thus: "What would you want"; not "PLAYTONIC MUST DO THIS"!

If you don't like the forums, you don't have to use them.

Hmm... Stop n Swop was such a source of speculation for years. Part of the mystery was seeing these items and not having any idea what they were supposed to do. Even collecting them didn't solve the puzzle. Speaking of puzzles, I think finding some sort of code on a wall for which the key is in the next game would be cool. "kvnq tfwfo ujnft cx uif bsdift" then the second game would tell you the message was a +1 cipher and you get instructions to apply in the second game. Perhaps unlocking a cave with Easter eggs or weapons from Project Ukulele.
It's a simplistic example, but you get the point. Something out of the way, observable, but baffling until game 2, maybe even later than that. They could craft a lengthy puzzle using multiple games that culminate in a a big payoff.
But that's just my opinion :P

On topic. I can't wait to see what they come up with.
I have not been this excited for a game in years.
The concept for secrets that may take years to figure out just thrills me.
I have been a Rare fan for over 20 years.
Playtonic has officially overtaken them. Without a single game yet published.
Crazy? Yes.
Insane?

Yes.

Half way through BK right now. Can't say for certain. Hope it turns out fine.

I would like a very hard to discover secret, but it should still be mentioned on the game, like how Banjo-Kazooie did it.
