unlock-able sound test to listen to music?

Postby BetterThanYou » Tue Mar 31, 2015 3:10 am

we all know the tracks will be vary good, but in most of rare's games there where idle animations that made sounds that interrupts the music, so wouldn't it be nice to have a way to listen to the music without interruption? (Edit: if theres a way to separately adjust volume between sound effects and music, this won't be a problem) or maybe you want to listen to underwater tracks longer that 20 seconds? i think it would be really nice, especially if it's a completion bonus. ya know, cause why else would we go back to a file we've already done everything in?

Or they could just release a soundtrack, which seems likely considering the Kickstarter requests.

It's still nice to have it within the game though. I personally never download soundtracks. Organizing them and stuff is annoying, particularly since I've abandoned most music players for Spotify.

An in-game soundtrack(/sound test) would be pretty neat, especially with three ex-Rare composers on the team. I've had an before; I'd love music to play a big roll in the game.

A FLAC soundtrack would be great, I'd buy it for sure.

As far as I'm concerned, no way that I'll let the game run just to listen to soundtracks hahaha, it seems pointless. I'll just download the soundtrack and use some music player to listen to it.

I didn't know people launch a game just to listen to soundtracks. :D I guess everyone has his own little habits...

I think a sound test would be a nice call-back to the older era of gaming, but a physical/digital soundtrack CD would appeal more to today's market. If possible, both would be awesome. I agree I probably wouldn't use the Sound Test much, but it'd just be a nice addition.

I think it's a nice idea but not really necessary. Hopefully soundtracks will be in the kickstarter rewards and chances are once the game is on PC the tracks will get extracted from the files and put up on YouTube anyways.

Personally I'd rather listen to it outside of the game so I can still play the game!

I know this is not what you exactly want, but I loved the jukebox in Jolly Roger's pub. If they did something similar in Project Ukulele, they could include some kind of board games (like in Assassins's Creed: Black Flag) that can be played inside a pub or bar. That way, you can do something fun while listening to your favorite tracks!

Something like the jukebox that Banjo-Tooie had, would be a nice feature to be in Project Ukulele for an unlockable sound test.

I would definitely LOVE a feature like that in the game!

Of course nowadays one can rip or download tracks to his own device, but an in-game Sound Test menu tastes much more like 'retro' gaming. I remember in my teens I plugged a headphone jack on the very first Sega Megadrive model, so I could listen to stereo FM synthesis music. Many games like the Sonic the Hedgehog series featured their Sound Test menu. Later I enjoyed it in the Smash Bros. games too.

It doesn't mean one will launch a game just to listen to soundtracks... Sometimes I would like to have a break after a long play. Jolly Roger's jukebox was a good occasion to pause and enjoy a nice tune I've heard just before.

I think it would be a great and nostalgic feature, and easy enough to implement. I would also definitely buy a flac soundtrack.
