Main Spin-Off Ideas Thread

As this game will probably be a huge success, it's time to think of possible spin-offs.

Maybe the new bones girl can have an interesting story. I think an RPG with Mumbo and learning new magic would have been an interesting game. So some character or group of characters like that who repeatedly assist Yooka and Laylee. They can make for a natural RPG where you anticipate learning the moves you watched them use in another game but also be surprised by the moves Playtonic can think of that the character(s) couldn't use to help Y&L.
Woaaaah, it finally came out! :o

I really enjoyed Paper Mario Thousand Year Door so maybe a game like that.

Maybe an RPG like the Mario & Luigi series - not taking itself seriously and making what can be a stuffy and overly serious genre newcomer-friendly.

Puzzle Spin Off Ideas

Postby DWard14 » Sun Nov 08, 2015 9:54 am

As this game will probably be very popular, its time to think about possible spin offs. What are your ideas for a puzzle spin off? If you want to hear one of MY ideas: How about a game called Yooka VS Laylee? In it you solve, create and share brain teasing puzzles. The story is Yooka and Laylee have fallen out so Laylee has shoved Yooka and put him a deep pit he would normally need her flying to get out of so Yooka's written a letter of apology and sent a group of Ghost Writers to send it to her. In it you solve puzzles by getting the Ghost Writers to the exit in all the levels.
Gameplay: You press a Ghost Writers assigned button to take control of that Ghost Writer. Two things to note: The other Ghost writers will continue moving along a fixed track as you control one and the Ghost Writers will take damage in sunlight, so they must stay in the shade. Place trees or move other elements to get the Ghost Writers to the goal. The puzzles start simple but gradually become more complex. New elements like crates, bridges, and movable hollow logs will begin to appear. If you do well you can unlock trophies which unlock bonus levels. You can also earn Play Tonics if you do well in levels but more on that later. The different types of ghost writers include the green snake, the pink one with a big mouth, the nervous orange one, the evil red one and the blue one with a sheet on its head. There are some levels which include a Ghost Writer trapped inside an enemy which you can't control and must lead into the sunlight for a few seconds while keeping away from the other Ghost Writers as it will try and kill them. You can also make your own levels. Speaking of which:
Community Content: You can have players globally stumped by creating your own levels in the in game workshop. You can become a mastermind by creating puzzles with the materials earned in game. The interface is simple and easy. You can also use your Play Tonics to buy extra items in the store. If you get enough, you can unlock Ghostly Yooka and Ghostly Laylee. Once you've created a level you can upload it by pressing the share button. If someone likes your level, they can give you extra Play Tonics. Speaking of which...
Tipping Play Tonics: You can earn in game tips if you create clever or difficult levels. You can also give a creator you like a tip or just share the word about your favourite levels. Once you've finished the main game, you can just head over to the Community Page and play some more levels. Playtonic would also post new levels to the community every week, so look out for them. You can also give creators you like Play Tonics.

Once Playtonic will have made three or four games I would like to see a game à la Mario Party, starring the best characters from their previous games.

Are you serious with all these identical threads? Put the "spin offs" in one thread no need for a seperate thread each.

Yeah, you could have really just combined all those threads you made. Take it down a few notches.

That said, I'd rather we do away with any "Yooka-Pilot"s. I'd rather they incorporate all these spin-offy ideas into the singleplayer, ala Banjo Tooie and its FPS goodness.

I would have been if:

1) That was your original post.
2) The title was a clear "My idea for a spin-off" or at least "spin-off idea(s)" instead of clickbait that implies Playtonic is making a spin-off.
and 3) Any future ideas of spin-offs would be posted as a new post in the same thread (or if nobody's responded since your last post and it was made in the past week, an edit to that post).[/quote]
I've added it to my original post, changed the title and added a note saying that other spin off ideas will be included in separate threads. Now are you happy?

Golf Spin Off Ideas

Postby DWard14 » Sun Nov 15, 2015 12:01 pm

As this game will probably be very popular it's time to think of possible spin offs. What are your ideas for a golf spin off? If you want to hear one of MY ideas: How about a game called Yooka-Laylee Golf: Hole in One. The tagline should be 'It's Time for Tee and you're all invited!'
Single Player: The single player experience takes place in the Pagie Palace, a golf club designed to help new players become used to the game. When the game begins the players chosen character is instantly gifted with a membership card for this club. Who is the owner of this club? Why, who else but Trowzer, the snake who taught you the basics in the main game to teach you the basics in the spin offs. At the club, you can do three things: Play through tutorial tournaments against Trowzer (An easy opponent because of the lack of hands in which you can hone your skills, play fun minigames which put fun twists on the golf formula, such as Golf Pinball in which you play a game of golf inside a giant pinball machine which bumpers and everything and the final single player activity is exploring the Pagie Palace which plays just like a level in the actual game in which you explore the golf club using all the moves from Yooka Laylee to find keys to new golf courses tickets which unlock more minigames. Another thing to note about the single player experience is that whenever something is completed in game, like a tournament or a new high score in a mini game you earn Pagies which can be used to unlock stat-boosting clothing and equipment. These stats include strength, control and luck. Another thing about the Pagie Palace. In it you can find NPC's from Yooka-Laylee you can talk to and get some funny lines from. A few might even challenge you to a tournament. However, once you've honed your skills and boosted your stats in single player it's time to go multiplayer!
Multiplayer: The game would ideally feature international online available for all those out there with a console connected to the internet. After exploring the Pagie Palace for a while you will gain access to the basement in which you can speak to Trowzer and get access to online multiplayer. From here you can create and join a variety of different types of tournaments from traditional 18 hole ones to special speed challenges. There are 3 different forms of tournaments: Hole in One tournaments, in which you choose a selection of 18 holes and adjust the order in which you and your fellow participants play them in, Local Tournaments, in which you play with people in your region and in this mode you can actually adjust the difficulty of the courses which will be randomly selected by the computer and placed in a random order and International Tournaments, the only mode which gives you access to every option. You can also earn Pagies and exclusive gear from these tournaments.

More useless drivel with no through put into it. Even if this was a full post, it should have been put in your other spinoff thread.
