Yeah. I expect AndyR, or Jens, or Chris, or SOMEONE from the studios to say something about Toybox++ or the full game.

Call me crazy, but I think you guys should go to Twitter and bombard Playtonic's Twitter page asking them for an update regarding the Toybox++. If that won't work, bombard them with emails through their "Contact Us" list from their official page.

I asked Grant on Twitter, but he forwarded me to Playtonic's Twitter account (which I find a little strange, 'cause he is part of Playtonic).
Playtonic didn't answer yet.

I'm not being honest if I tell you guys I'm not a little bit worried.. :(

Okay. Maybe the bombardment of emails and messages was a poor choice of words in my part. But my point still remains: they should give us a dev. update about the Toybox++ demo, and the full game.

We have no problem in waiting, but dang it, you guys don't have to be quiet forever.

What's the deal, Playtonic? Don't tell us you're turning into every other Kickstarted game with overpromises and delayed deadlines.

Actually, do tell us. We'd like to know!

So I reached out to Andy on Twitter about the demo and he was kind enough to respond, but there's no real info to relay. They're working hard on the game and they're still planning to release the demo months ahead of the final game.

I'm sure this won't put many minds to rest about it being delayed as long as it has but if they're working on the game and it's taking them longer than they initially thought, it can't really be helped. Either way I'm sure the demo and the final game will be awesome experiences and if it takes them a while longer than anticipated to get the sort of experience they want from them I'm all for it, I'd rather them make them the best they can than end up rushing them to meet a deadline and end up with a poor experience that does them no favours and potentially turns people off from the game.

Hi guys.

Apologies for the lack of information on this. I appreciate it might be frustrating for some of you but there's nothing more to report since our last update: we're still aiming to release the Toybox in 'early 2016'.

It will still be released many months before the final game and totally exclusive to Kickstarter backers.

This is a broad release window, purely because the team is still working hard to get the final game up to the quality levels you expect by the end of this year, and at the same time create a cool bespoke gameplay toy for our backers. We're confident you'll be pleased with it when it finally releases, but we want you to be equally delighted with the final game... So please be patient! We want to impress you with our final products, not how quickly we can pump things out.

It's worth reiterating again that the Toybox isn't a traditional 'demo': it's a self-contained gameplay 'toy' experience designed to give backers a feel for Yooka and Laylee ahead of the final game. We had to make sure everything was nailed down before we could deliver an authentic preview.

Development is going well and I'm positive you'll be pleased when we finally blow the lid off and show you the final game. This date is approaching - I'm swirling around the early embers right now. The plan is still to release at the end of the year, so if you keep that date in mind everything else will fall in to place as we approach the final stretch :)

If anyone has follow up questions you can get me on Twitter at @AndyPlaytonic.

A
