Also, regarding the corporate storyline we're all speculating about:
Is it just me or do you people also feel like that type of storyline would be overly complex? It just seems to me that having a feud between two companies / a hostile acquisition with someone fighting against the big bad company, would make the story much more complicated and overall convoluted than we are used to from every other platformer we've ever played before.
Thoughts, anyone?

I don't think being a platformer requires a simple or no story. Ratchet and Clank has gotten rather complex over the iterations.

And I also don't think it's that complex. It could easily be explained away in a few sentences.

The story as I imagine it currently, from the perspective of a hypothetical Head Of QuackCorp:
"I used to run QuackCorp but was overthrown by my VP. Hivory Towers is an evil corporation that facilitated the buyout. They intend to complete <evil thing> by using stolen pagies from <magical book worlds> created by the Ghost Writers. I need you to get my company back. My salesman Trowzer will make Play Tonics available to you along the way to make you stronger, for a price of course."

Maybe shoehorn in a reason for the protagonists to not just say "mmm, nah".

The story likely only appears complex because of how it's being presented -- little bits of info. ...we've all our different and contrasting head theories.

Shame it's probably going to go on like this, maybe two sentences of obscure information each day, until at least Monday if not until the 31st.

Well they've already explained that , sold by Trowzer. From there we "know" that QuackCorp is somehow involved with them because of this image: http://imgur.com/irEzdoz

This is where the assumption that QuackCorp developed Play Tonics (and employs Trowzer) comes from. We don't technically know how Pagies are involved. We know Pagies are in the worlds, and worlds are in books. We know that Pagies can be used to open new books, or add additional content to or expand existing books. We also know that there's an unfinished novel (in real life mind you) called . It could then be supposed that the Pagies are being used by the bad guys to finish The Hivory Tower, which could be their own world, also in a book.

Could pagies be the recipe for the potions? And we have to find them?

Like the pages are missing and to complete 'recipe' book we go search the worlds... Now i remembered the ghost writers. This is really doing my head in..

I looked into the real book The Ivory Tower some more.

Thematically, The Ivory Tower is about predatory financiers (which Hivory Tower was clearly established as). Several of the characters are also "unspeakably corrupt", and are obsessed with wealth and pleasure. The modern day equivalent of this would almost certainly be Big Buzzness. The book is essentially an attack on excessive wealth and aggressive capitalism. I would say that based on what we know, this book is tied strongly to YL. I wonder if the book has a QuackCorp equivalent. In the book Abel Gaw and Frank Betterman are two of the corrupting millionaires.

Edit: In the book Abel and Frank die, and their nephew Gray receives a large inheritance (Gray = QuackCorp?). Gray, having little experience with business, trusts the fortune to Horton Vint. I think Horton Vint is the head of Hivory Towers in this situation. H for Horton, tacked onto Ivory Towers = Hivory Towers?

If the game wasn't centered heavily on books I would agree, but since it is... and since the themes match up (capitalism and hostile takeovers), I'm currently leaning towards the game being a modern play on the general story of The Ivory Tower book. Especially since it's an unfinished book, and using golden pages seems like it could finish a book.
