Three favorite characters at this point?

Postby Meinhard1 » Mon Aug 15, 2016 5:43 am

We've seen nice slew of the character now, and while their different characterizations/personalities remain to be known to us, what is to stop us from choosing an early favorite?
Lets take a break from Toybox talk and direct our attention to these characters: (Wiki link included, choose three in the poll)

=
Capital B http://yooka-laylee.wikia.com/wiki/Capital_B (
Clara http://yooka-laylee.wikia.com/wiki/Clara
Dr. Puzz http://yooka-laylee.wikia.com/wiki/Dr._Puzz
Dr. Quack http://yooka-laylee.wikia.com/wiki/Dr._Quack
Kartos http://yooka-laylee.wikia.com/wiki/Kartos
Lady Leap-a-Lot http://yooka-laylee.wikia.com/wiki/Lady_Leap-a-Lot
Rextro Sixtyfourus http://yooka-laylee.wikia.com/wiki/Rextro_Sixtyfourus
Trowzer http://yooka-laylee.wikia.com/wiki/Trowzer
Vendi http://yooka-laylee.wikia.com/wiki/Vendi
Yooka
Laylee

Notably excluded, choose one in your post below: Lady Leap-a-Lot, Inept, Snowman, Nibus, signpost; minions, enemies (Corplets), write-in

My choice of those who didn't fit: Lady Leap-a-Lot
Least favorite:
Write-in: Bill Murray

EDIT: Did not choose him myself, but predicting Trowzer wins big!

I gotta say, Laylee's probably come to be my favorite just from the bits we've seen. I've really come around on her design as well.

Trowzer has a wonderful look and the little bit of in-game animation with the voice clip was enough to really sell me on him.

Dr. Puzz probably not a typical choice but I feel like people picking on her design mixed with the actual reason for her look (experiment gone wrong), she's one I've developed a bit of a soft spot for.

It was tough picking between her and Yooka, who I like a fair bit but maybe just don't know enough about yet.

Laylee's my absolute favourite so far, I even took the liberty of drawing my own avatar of her. Really wanna see more of her witty, cynical and sarcastic dialogue, as well as how she will interact with Yooka. Characters like Laylee are my favourite type of character. And she's a bat, and anyone who's read Silverwing knows that bats make great characters partly due to their natural abilities.

I like Yooka for having what Banjo doesn't: actually having some unique abilities of his own rather than having the sidekick do all the cool stuff for him. Chameleons (and bats) are very unique creatures, and he and Laylee are perfect examples of how animals can make for some creative gameplay mechanics and amusing animations, which I wanna see more of in 'AAA' games (I hate that term.) I actually like him more than Banjo because of this. We haven't seen much dialogue from him yet, so I'm not sure how to think of him personality-wise at the moment.

The concept behind Capital B is simply wonderful. A villain being a stereotypical company executive speaking exclusively in corporate lingo is exactly what I needed to see following my frustrations with how the corporate the world has been turning into lately. He's guaranteed to generate some laughs with his jargon. I cannot wait to see what more he will say in the game.

I actually love the ghost writers and hope to see more of them soon. Loved the little bit of the one we saw in the toybox and how it rhymed.

Also love Clara and Trowzer.

I already see lots of personality in this game and with the characters and am excited to meet many more in the coming months and during actual game play!

What surprises me most is Rextro's great popularity relative to Kartos and Dr. Quack. All three are really fun, interesting designs... just not sure what distinguishes Rexto.
Anyone? :P

(Admittedly a small sample size but difference in popularity is greater than a factor of four!)

I voted Rextro as my 3rd favourite of those listed (Laylee was first and then Yooka) because I think the name is clever and like the idea of having the "old N64 game" looking character who looks after the arcade, plus he looks friendly. Also the roar/growl sound he made in the E3 trailer reminded me of a sound effect from an enemy in Banjo-Kazooie, so everything about him just seems nostalgic (and the Nintendo 64 was my first console so I love games from that era).

Those are some good reasons, still surprised he's one of the very most popular. Didn't notice the trailer sound, but totally does!
He's probably the cutest character. Like you say, appears friendly how his mouth hangs open in a perpetual grin.

Thanks for the responses, guys!

Poll came out before we really got a good look at Blasto or his bird companion
