You aren't gonna get your answers about why EXACTLY they can't bring it to the Wii U. I think it's obvious there were no technical limitations. Both Nintendo and Playtonic will have been in discussions with each other and probably both agreed they would prefer the game to release on the Switch rather than the Wii U for obvious reasons.

I don't mind this and think it is for the best (cause why would you want to release a game on a dead console when you could release it on a brand new one).

I actually would like to "switch" my xbox one version for a Switch version (provided the release dates are the same) I'd freakin love to be able to take this game with me on holiday.

But it's more polish.

And they get to take more time to really take advantage of the hardware. If they had been trying to hold back for the Wii U version, and realized they went too far, they can now go back and really make a game that pushes the limits on hardware for all systems. Wouldn't that be nice? Isn't that what everyone would want??

I'm in camp 'don't want another delay'

I might add that delays can be very costly. They can only spend so much more of their funds on polish before they'll have no choice but to release it and hopefully get their money back.
I know delaying by a year is hypothetical, but be real here: doing such a thing when the game is practically finished is a huge waste of time and money.
Wait 'till they profit from the game, then they'll refine the engine if they make a sequel.

To those talking about a 2018 release, where did I say anything about delaying till 2018?
I was merely suggesting playtonic take an extra month or so to wait for the switch to come out then release on all platforms at the same time.
This way everyone gets a chance to play it day 1, including nintendo players.
