Okay I hate it that they won't be releasing a Wii U version that would magically run as well (or almost as well) as on the way powerful consoles, but screw it, the game's probably better off on the Switch anyway. But my problem will be the implied delayed of said version.... I was able to run the Toybox on my laptop, but I don't think that the hardware requirements are comparable to the full game and I want to have a smooth experience playing this, so I'll have to wait, I guess.

Now I really want to hear more details on the Switch version... please don't delay it for several months

I just read through the first page of this thread and had to stop. So much negativity!

To be honest, I pledged for the WiiU version, simply for nostalgia purposes. Am I disappointed it wont come to that system anymore? Yea. But I don't share the same negativity as others. That's probably because I can easily switch to the XBox One version (though I'll wait to get more info on Switch to see if that's a more enticing option).

With an April release date, that gives four months for others to work on getting a console that suits them. Holiday season, anyone? Ask for one lol..

I remember when Nuts and Bolts was announced, I didn't have an xbox console. However, my loyalty and fondness for BK/BT inspired me to purchase one. It wasn't worth it because N&B was trash, but still my love for the franchise won out. Which is exactly what YL should make others feel. Haven't we seen enough game play and footage to be confident that this game will be worth it? You have four months to save up. Sure, that may not be the most ideal solution for some, but it's not like the team planned this from the start of the kickstarter with intentions of misleading loyal backers.

I still have faith this game will be wonderful, and regardless of whether or not I would have to shell out extra money for another console (I might if I choose Switch), I'm still just as excited to get my hands on this as I was when it was first teased over a year ago.

Wait so it says if you pre order you get the toybox right? So what if we backed the game but just chose to get the game and not the toybox?

Well, I've lurked these forums for a year now, but this topic specifically called out to me to register an account, so hey all!

First of all, it completely sucks that the Wii U version of the game was cancelled, and I feel for the Wii U owners that backed it.

However, I look at one game that came out this year and understand why it got cancelled/technical issues arose: Mighty No. 9.

That too, was a KS game that was promised for all consoles. After many delays/technical issues, it finally came out...and it was mediocre at best, to put it nicely.

Now, while the game came out on all it's intended platforms, I would almost bet that the Wii U version was the one giving them issues, being nowhere near as powerful as everything else. Hence delays and whatnot. And it still came out later on Wii U than almost every other platform it was scheduled for. And they had a bigger team than Playtonic does.

Playtonic must have realized this and tried to work through it, but just couldn't deal, with an engine that is optimized for most platforms except that specific platform.

Yes, Mario and other first party titles run well on it, because they are made specifically for that platform. Most of the third-party titles mentioned earlier in this thread, I.e, Watch Dogs, Batman: Arkham Origins, etc., were all mediocre at best on the Wii U.

So that is my reasoning why they decided to move on from Wii U. I do admit, they could have tried to give a better/sooner update, but game development is a fickle mistress, plus if they are working closely with Nintendo on the Switch version, maybe there's an NDA in place not allowing them to talk about the "technical limitations" they previously experienced.
