Voice acting?

Postby Josh-Bominaqua » Sat Mar 14, 2015 8:57 pm

We always loved the goofy little noises the characters make when they talk. And most of us looooove the full voice acting from Conkers bad fur day. So you probably catch my drift.

Would you prefer full voice acting or the little noises?

This is a tough one. I love and prefer the mumbles, but I know my little nephew would love to hear what's going on (he can't read yet!)...

I have to vote mumbles for selfish reasons. Maybe full dialogue could be turned on and off in the options menu -- this dialogue option could become a stretch goal on Kickstarter?

The Banjo-Kazooie-style voices are hilarious and a large part of the game's spirit.

Gibberish.Only ever Gibberish.
Maybe one character talks normally and its an in-game joke or something.
But everyone else gets gibberish.

I'm definitely in team gibberish.

Speaking of which, one of my favorite gibberish voice is from a non Rare game: the voice of Murphy in Rayman 2. I find that voice hilarious.

I am strongly against voice acting. The gibberish adds so much charm to the characters

Imagine if the antagonist is mysterious all the way through and then right at the end there's a Mingy Jongo-type twist in which he reveals himself... and can speak. And his voice is absolutely terrifying... especially after playing a game with nothing but mumbles -- it'd throw you off a bit.

I think I'd like that.

Mumbling is fine by me. I'm actually really excited to hear Jontron voice some bird character, if not the main bird character.

He just has a great voice for it.

Gibberish would definitely make the most sense, since this is a B-K spiritual successor and all. But if the developers decide they want to go with full on voice acting, I'd be happy with that too. Rare's games have always had very enjoyable voicework, so I imagine Playtonic will be the same way.

I hope it's BK voices, and I hope they don't just let fans do them.

Gibberish forever! The burping gibberish especially made me laugh as a kid, though all the gibberish was fun and adorable.
