In a few hours we will know how most critics took the game to heart.

That will be the first step towards determinating Playtonic's debut game's fate.
I have high hopes.

But we also have these messages from Jim Sterling (think twice about pre-ordering)
and another random game guy on Twitter telling people to keep their hype in check as "he heard from many they were underwhelmed"

Also keep in mind that if somebody gives it a bad review: who cares.

Like sure it would be cool if everybody was into this pretty niche genre we're into, but flipping out and name-calling because it isn't somebody's jam just makes you look like a real dink.

3D platformers aren't everybody's cup of tea, so I won't worry about critics being underwhelmed. I'm excited to hear what genre or even Banjo fans will say, though!

I feel like almost all of the reviewers will miss "the point". It seems the reviews that ARE out largely:

* Were not waiting for Banjo Threeie for close to two decades
* Have not been following this project since the Mingy Jongo days
* May not have any previous experience with the project at all

The one complaining about the voice clips missed the point so dramatically I'm sort of amazed they even wrote it. It was still an 8, but I expect to be doing a lot of "yes, that's how it's supposed to be" to a lot of reviewers "negatives".

Why? I speak for myself but I don't give a damn what others think as long as I enjoy it.

Besides. Reviews have been shown over the last few years to be manipulated.
