I think you're starting to get a bit worked up there, Shan.
I like to think of this as "cabin fever," only with a Yooka Laylee skin put over it. People start to go mad when they can't leave their cabin in a long enough time, just like people seem to be going mad not experiencing YL! I feel for you guys: I'm incredibly lucky to have gotten to play already.
Realistically - and Shan basically said this already in another thread - they have been spending most of their console-development resources/team just to get the patch out and in working order on PS4 and Xbox. Keep in mind that Playtonic didn't actually handle development of those versions, so the incredible delay is understandable. Either they decided to do the patch themselves for the consoles, or they were too busy communicating with another studio. Regardless, there's not much room for working on something like the Switch version - which should hopefully be relatively simple for them to pull off - when you've got two other consoles waiting for what is in some ways a "playability patch."
At the same time, development of DLC and the extra bits we are waiting for seem to be progressing smoothly according to Twitter. They likely use different team members in developing the new content versus the console updates. While it stings that they didn't give an update this time around, I'm willing to be it is because these console patches were much more ridiculous to work on than first anticipated, and they just wanted to announce ASAP that it was finally done. I'm honestly expecting another update before the next month is up. So hang in there!
