Has Switch version finally been cancelled? No news has come out in months regarding releasing on the Switch, but priority seems to still be on making DLC for the other systems.

The Switch version is still being worked on. Just yesterday they posted this image of it on their Twitter. https://twitter.com/PlaytonicGames/stat ... 3694291969
(Spoiler warning: The level displayed on the Switch screen in the image is from a later part of the game.)

Another Kickstarter update, another No Date Announcement for Switch. So when does v1.0 of Yooka Laylee launch on Switch, and when does v1.1 with the DLC update launch on Switch, because I want my free DLC upgrade?
Or, if they start out with v1.1 or whatever is most recent on other platforms, are we still getting free DLC or is Playtonic reneging on that?

How did you even get "Playtonic might renege on free DLC" just because the last update didn't specify a Switch release date? That is a zero logical sense conclusion to make.
They will give us more information when they have certain information to give, so it would be nice if people would stop with the dramatic claims such as "Switch cancelled!", "No free DLC!", "Playtonic are slacking off!" etc. I don't know if you like stressing yourself out with unneeded drama because that's just your personality, or if you think that by making a big fuss you will somehow coerce Playtonic into hurrying up, but either way it's immature and unhelpful.

I think you're starting to get a bit worked up there, Shan.
I like to think of this as "cabin fever," only with a Yooka Laylee skin put over it. People start to go mad when they can't leave their cabin in a long enough time, just like people seem to be going mad not experiencing YL! I feel for you guys: I'm incredibly lucky to have gotten to play already.
Realistically - and Shan basically said this already in another thread - they have been spending most of their console-development resources/team just to get the patch out and in working order on PS4 and Xbox. Keep in mind that Playtonic didn't actually handle development of those versions, so the incredible delay is understandable. Either they decided to do the patch themselves for the consoles, or they were too busy communicating with another studio. Regardless, there's not much room for working on something like the Switch version - which should hopefully be relatively simple for them to pull off - when you've got two other consoles waiting for what is in some ways a "playability patch."
At the same time, development of DLC and the extra bits we are waiting for seem to be progressing smoothly according to Twitter. They likely use different team members in developing the new content versus the console updates. While it stings that they didn't give an update this time around, I'm willing to be it is because these console patches were much more ridiculous to work on than first anticipated, and they just wanted to announce ASAP that it was finally done. I'm honestly expecting another update before the next month is up. So hang in there!

I didn't realize there was a lot of other social media negativity going on for Playtonic right now.
Personally, I hope they keep development to a single platform next time (fingers crossed for Switch), and maybe expand their team to an extra member or two to specifically post on the forums and keep the community alive.
