I'd want the idea of rare hard-to-find scattered items in the main worlds, which once you collect all of them unlock a new world or something.
Maybe different difficulty settings, replay value trying to complete the game under harder difficulties. However, I'm not sure whether you could class this idea as not-very Banjo-Kazooie-esque.

Maybe some sorta New Game Plus mode would help, like with the Dark Souls franchise (though in another sense, not like it of course :P), in the sense that NG+ would have new items, NPC's or even bosses that you couldn't access beforehand, or even just more enemies to make it feel like a same, but new run of the game again.

Though of course this would only add replay value to those completionists out there lol

Or a mode like Super Mario Galaxy where you have to collect green stars after collecting all the normal stars which are hidden really well.

As someone who rarely replays big games, it would be interesting to see if they can draw me in. As for how? I'm really not sure.

As cheesy as it sounds, an overall good game would do it.

Yeah I would like a hard mode or hero mode, where there's more and harder enemies, maybe re arranged pagies, and maybe have the world mirrored like in zelda twilight princess on the Wii how its mirrored to the gamecube version.

I would love unlockable cheats like in goldeneye. The challanges were so hard and fun to complete.

New Game+ would be interesting for a game like this because in the second time around you could start out with all of the abilities unlocked so running through all of the early levels would be super satisfying.

One other awesome thing would be new uncovered secrets that were obscured the first time through. For example in Wind Waker you would got through the game the first time around and would bump into characters that spoke a lot of Hylian and you couldn't understand it. In New Game+ you could understand all of it. I thought that was really cool.
