About Amiibos

I noticed that Platonic Games thinks that it would be cool to add amiibos to Project Ukulele.
It would be cool, but i don't really like the idea.
If I understand amiibos correctly, then they are some figures that can unlock excusive items in a game.
I don't know if i am the only one, but isn't that a bit like microtransactions?
When i buy a game i want to be able to unlock everything without paying for extra stuff.

That's just my openion. :D

Amiibos are perfect. They're a non-essential extra.

What sort of amiibo support are we talking about here? Are we talking using existing amiibo that Nintendo is releasing/has already released based on Smash Bros. and Mario Party 10, or are we talking about having amiibo made based on this game and characters from it to then use with the game in some way?

If the former, I can't see it being used for much beyond unlocking some kind of extra content based on the amiibo used, like costumes or such. I don't exactly like that idea, but I guess it couldn't really hurt anything.

If the latter, would that actually be possible? So far the only games with amiibo series based on them are Smash Bros. and Mario Party 10, both of which are Nintendo properties. Would Nintendo actually make amiibo for a third-party game, especially if that game might not be exclusive to a Nintendo platform? Assuming for now that this could happen, what could these amiibo be used for?

I think Amiibos would be the perfect vessals to store Stop N' Swop data between games, should Playtonic choose to implement such a thing into Project Ukulele (please Playtonic, please)

would be awesome if the DK amiibo would do something special when you place it on the wiiupad, like, I dunno, play a classic DKC or DK64 tune! Or say OKAY in the DK64 voice!

How would they even be able to do that? If it's on multiple platforms, I don't know if Nintendo would allow them to have amiibo support... Also there haven't been any amiibos of characters that aren't in a Nintendo owned game. I'd selfishly love for them to make amiibo so I can collect them, but I don't know if it would be worth it for them and the deals they would need to make with Nintendo.

I don't know how unlikely it is or how many hoops Playtonic will have to jump through to make Amiibos actually happen, but if they did I would be spending all sorts of money on those. I assume that if the game ends up with Amiibo support they would just unlock little things like making your character wear a DK tie or baseball cap or something, but that's what I like about them. The way I see it, you are spending money on the cool little figure but then you just happen to get all of the bonus content that comes with it in the various games that are supported. People that call Amiibos microtransactions forget that you are also getting a real, physical object for your money.
