Remaster or New Banjo?

Postby KevinD » Thu May 14, 2015 2:43 pm

Would you rather have re mastered version of Banjo Kazooie for Xbone or a new game (possibly not being a traditional 3d platformer like nuts n' bolts)

Personally I would like to see the original game and tooie come back in a bundle with some other old rare titles like conker

Lemme know your thoughts

I liked Banjo-kazooie for what it was and will always be, somehow I get the idea when a game gets remastered it doesn't add anything significantly better to play the new game... I like the charms of the old game, graphics and everything. A remaster may not even be enjoyed to the fullest because the initial game was made with certain vision in mind where everything just clicks together. A simple remaster wil not bring that back to me rather, it could damage fond memories.

I'd rather have a whole new game ^^

I think B-K and B-T have aged remarkably well. I played it on the Project64 emulator, and while there were a few emulation bugs the overall experience was great. The bugs weren't game breaking at all. I played them in glorious, hi-res, widescreen 1920x1080P with some in-emulator texture enhancements and anti-aliasing. My 14-year-old brother even said it looked good (for reference, he was born the year the GameCube came out).

Plus, they were already released on XBLA. I don't think they need another rerelease, unless it were an official, legal PC version, in that case I would buy it in s heartbeat. I would vote for a new Banjo, preferably a cross-platform release...

I'd love a new Banjo, but I can't help but feel they butchered the character design with N&B... Kazooie's too feminine, Banjo's too block, and I don't think they can recapture the magic so easy. Personally... I'd vote neither.

I'd definitely buy and play a proper from the ground up remake (like live and reloaded) but I'd prefer a brand new adventure.

They've already somewhat slightly updated the first and second games, as downloadable titles on Xbox 360 marketplace but if they were to be given remaster like Halo was with Masterchief collection on Xbox one then I wouldn't say no.

Yet if it is a choice of remaster or new, then definitely new! They need to have another game! But a big new adventure where I can play as both banjo and Kazooie (and maybe a few other characters occasionally like we could with Mumbo in tooie) not another stuck-in-a-garage-fiddling-with-menus-building-vehicles-and-seeing-how-well-they-drive game.

I would rather have a remake of Banjo-Kazooie/Tooie in the same vein as Conker: Live & Reloaded, then a new Banjo game that would be developed by an almost entire different team who didn't have any involvement in making the original games. Because it's usually the case that when a new game in a franchise is made by people who didn't have a hand in creating it, are worse than the previous games like Fear 3 or The Darkness 2 is. A remake would be a nice gesture from Rare Ltd to gain some goodwill back, and avoiding the risk of a less than stellar Banjo game be it "Banjo-Threeie" or otherwise.

Yes, the ending of Banjo-Tooie was a fitting end for the series anyway if they hadn't included that last line about a Banjo-Threeie in Grunty's monologue.

All this might be the best outcome, I guess. But I can't help but get a bit angry again, that Rare/MS will probably keep the IP. Such a waste  (This chain of though keeps repeating itself... is this the definition of insanity?). I really want to forget about that asap. Yooka-Laylee might help with that.
