Major disappointment.

I'll get that Rare Replay but as for their new IP in Sea of Thieves? Major bummer. This is what they've been working on?

Rare is known for their fantastical worlds and fuzzy animals. Sea of Thieves might as well just be their Kinect Sports human characters shoved onto an island and in pirate ships.

Well, at least it's a new IP and not an old one dressed up in a different genre!

Jet Force Gemini and Perfect Dark aren't about fuzzy animals, yet still Rare classics. Dream wasn't going to be (entirely) goggle-eyed creatures, either...and also about pirtes. Maybe it'll pleasantly surprise us.

I'm a little bummed, too, but it's a step in the right direction. Baby steps.

Well, there goes my answer...Rare is making a brand new pirate game titled Sea of Thieves and there making a HUGE anniversary collection that has literally every Rare game in exsisting in it. Minus Kinect Sports but who the hell cares...

Sea of Thieves looks pretty interesting. I do have alot of questions and concerns and I wont be hyped for it just yet until I know a little more. Other than that I will keep my eye on it. Also, it totally reminds of the scrapped Project Dream. Not sure if intentional but whatever.

As for the Anniversary collection, I think that is a fantastic idea. It totally allows people to discover or rediscover why the hell Rare was so bloody good. Even though I already own most of those games already, I'm definitely buying that and I cant wait to rebeat all those classics again and play ones I've never touched before like Kameo.

Also, that new Rare logo tho...looks so bloody nice. Just like the original but new and fresh! I truly feel like Rare is making a comeback here and even if they fail, we'll just resort to Plan B, Playtonic Games.

I'm a little disappointed yet happy at the same time ^^"
I was a at work during the conference so couldn't see the thing live but I just got home and watched some extracts from IGN... The pirate game seems pretty "meh" but the Rare Replay seems is interesting for those owning an Xbox One, being able to replay all these classics :)

I'm glad Sea of Thieves will be on Windows 10. I might get it if I think it's any good.

I get you. I had the same initial impression.
After watching the trailer multiple times though; the environments are hyper detailed, the water looks amazing and the music is super nice.
Outside of Rare loving websites this game is being touted as a system seller.
I have been burned many times but, I am willing to reach into the fire one last time.
Oh. Not sure about online only. I think you are right though.
Mmo is correct.

What do people think about Conker's Bad Fur Day on the rare collection? Will it be the toned down version that was released on xbox or the origonal foul mouthed N64 game?

I'm not really an MMO guy, so I'm not super interested in Sea of Thieves, but it looks good, for what it is.

Now, Rare Replay, that I'm excited about. Thirty games for $30? As expensive as a used copy of Conker's Bad Fur Day is alone, that's ridiculous. And Grabbed By the Ghoulies running natively on the Xbone at 1080p, 60fps? Sold.

What I find risky about this "Sea of Thieves"-thing is that if you make a humorous or say light-hearted pirate game, you'd always be compared to Monkey Island. Of coure it obviously will be a different kind of game, but all that grog-talk, that comic look, the roundish objects and living voodoo skeletons may not introduce something to the theme that Monkey Island didn't already (and Pirates of the Carribean sticked to the Monkey Island formula quite heavily, too, now that I think about it).
So besides being an MMO rather than an adventure with fancy looking pirates, I don't know if Rare can contribute something original here.
