Clive N' Wrench needs help, FAST!

Postby John Enigma » Sun Mar 22, 2015 5:54 pm

Appearently, the devs of need help trying to make their game popular, and they have several hours to go.

Somebody or some people need to pass the word regarding this project.

What do you guys say?

Good riddance that "game" wasn't funded. The developers should start over and make a actual decent game concept that people want to fund and play.

I read about the project and didn't trust the team; they all seem like young amateurs. I wouldn't trust them with my money...

It's their first game and they're using kickstarter. There's a number of reasons to not back the game.

1) They have 0 experience with setting a budget or long-term timetable. They could easily run out of money while the game' half-completed, which would immediately cause either 2 or 3.

2) The game could get canceled. Kickstarter gives them their money as soon as the funding ends, and they're in no way obligated to finish their game. They could either have internal drama and separate, this could all be a scam, or they could just run out of funding and we'd never see the end product.

3) We could get a small or unfinished product. The first worlds could be amazing, then the later ones could be incredibly small or buggy.

I understand. Which is why I thought about this solution to this worst-case scenario: why can't Playtonic Games hire these guys?

Who knows? Maybe they'll learn a thing or two from the Originals.

I'm just saying.

Yeah, I wasn't that convinced by the project, either. While its nice to see a lot of people trying to revive the genre, there was something about this project that I didn't like. Maybe its the characters, an obvious B-K rip-off? Or the art style? I don't know.

The demo was choppy, uninteresting, and frankly amateur. I understand that demo footage is demo footage, but at least try. It looked like a powerpoint. Plus the characters were just not inviting. Nope.

Doesn't look like the kind of thing I'd want to fund. Just something about it looks strange and amateurish, like, even if it were to be completed, it still wouldn't have the look or feel of completed game.

Do people get their money back if a backed project doesn't reach its target?

If it reaches its target and it's cancelled you won't, however. If you don't fully, 100% trust the developer, you're giving them money at your own risk.
