So, all of these rumours keep popping up, with Nintendo filing trademarks, etc.







I would personally love a new Diddy Kong Racing with David Wise music, not so much without DK characters...

I also read the NX is going to cost $149.99. I sincerely hope that's not true. There's no way they could afford to sell a decent system at that price. The graphics would probably be a small team of fairies drawing every frame with crayons.

I pretend that these rumours don't exist. Forget a pinch of salt, I'm gonna throw the whole fricking salt container!

The NX can't cost $149.99! If the people say that the NX is gonna have PS4/XBOX One graphics (as in, not just HD, but 4K as well), and the fact that is gonna be compatible with every Nintendo console known in existence (via the eShop Virtual Console), then the price range of the NX should be between $349.99 to $499.99, give or take.

As much as I'd love to have a new Diddy Kong Racing I'm still sceptical, after all as the name says it's just a rumour. There has been lots of rumours concerning the NX these days, even a vid that was supposedly shown during an interview with third parties, revealing that the console final name would be "Nintendo Cross". The vid looks good but at the same time something feels off... Also, some people said the speech Iwata gave at the beginning of the video is actually reused from the Wii reveal. Until something is confirmed I'm not hoping for anything in particular, well maybe just that the NX is more popular than the Wii U and attracts some third party back...

I don't believe any of this is true.

There's talk of Nintendo buying Timber the Tiger from Microsoft. What on earth would they want that character for he a nobody and isn't worth any money. If your going to create a rumor at least make it a good one. A Diddy Kong Racing game could work great with characters from the DK universe alone they don't need random IPs.

Can anyone explain who owns what with regards to Diddy Kong Racing?

I get that Nintendo owns Diddy, the Kremlings and all DKC-related elements, while Rare/MS owns Banjo and Conker (hence why they didn't appear in the DS remake), but who owns the music? Who owns the track design? Who owns the other characters like Tipsy and Timber?

From the original, Nintendo only owns Diddy, Krunch and Tricky in terms of characters.
There was a rumour that they bought Timber.

I hope it is a Diddy Kong Racing sequel, but knowing nintendo, it may be a DKC returns sequel. Not that I would hate the idea, the DKCR series has been amazing, tropical freeze being freakishly hard (even harder than DKC2 heh), and Wise's music for said game are just out of this world.

I'm wondering now if Diddy Kong Racing has enough of a cult following to warrant a sequel now, 20 years later.

Being rational about this, Diddy Kong hasn't really been a household name since the 90s - Donkey still is because he appears in so many games and has his name on many of them.

Maybe if they called it Donkey Kong Racing, it'd be more likely?

I don't think Nintendo will make a Diddy or Donkey Kong Racing. They already have Mario Kart, Donkey Kong is in it, sometimes Diddy is in it too, it's probably enough for Nintendo...

I think a Diddy Kong Racing-like game from Playtonic is more probable, after they had established enough characters from their universe.
