This is the other indie game that has me very exited besides Yooka-Layle:

You play as two cartoon cups that lost a gamble with the devil and must now work for him, fighting several and very diverse cartoony bosses.

The game is heavily inspired by classic cartoons from the 30s (especifically the ones by Fleischer studios like Popeye, Betty Boop and Bimbo the Dog), but it takes it a step further by actually consisting of traditional, hand drawn animations and backgrounds put into the game.

Here is the trailer:

Love the style of this game - will definitely keep an eye on this one! And I hope to see some non-boss stages at some point!

There is a new video with non-boss gameplay:

I forgot to post it, but there is an interview where one of the developers is careful to point out that they are going with this cartoony direction without getting in the way of gameplay wich is their higuest priority.

Still, it's nice tath the game is helping keep traditional animation alive.
Here's the tumblr of one of the animators:

Finally!! A date!!

It looks beautiful.

Between this game and Bendy and the Ink Machine I can see early Golden Age animation (especially Fleischer's) getting a boost in popularity.

Edit: Whoa it's been a year.

I really hope there's a Switch port coming down the line. This game would be perfect on that system!

The game is out and for what I've seen the wait was wortth it. They really nailed the style and it seems to be hard but in a good, challanging way.

This might be my Game of the Year along with Super Mario Odyssey. The insane attention to detail when it comes to mimicking the style of classic Dave and Max Fleischer cartoons, coupled with the dedication to making the whole thing both look and sound like a 1930's cartoon, right down to the grainy film-reel filter, the scratchy audio, the animation being 24 fps just like the old cartoons, and the music itself being performed by a live jazz band, would have made this game a memorable one alone, but the fact that it also hearkens back to the classic 80's and 90's shooter games like Contra, Metal Slug, and Mega Man, and making the game difficult but fair, thus having wins being satisfying enough to overcome the brutal difficulty, makes it a damn-near masterpiece and instant classic. Suffice to say, if you can buy or obtain this game in some fashion, do yourself a favor and get it! The developers quit their old jobs and put a second mortgage on their homes in order to commit to this game, you know.
