Pandering to SJWs is not financially beneficial. Look at Ghostbusters.

Just to be clear. I don't care if everyone at the Playtonic studio holds liberal, or conservative political beliefs. I don't think it's necessary, wise, or fair to judge people based on such things. I simply don't agree with their approach in handling this situation at all.

Here's a tweet from Jon about this

no such thing as politically neutral. Everything makes a statement whether it was intended or not. They reached out to include him presumably because they enjoyed his work. At some point between then and now (don't need to tell you which point that was) that changed, so they had no reason to include him anymore. If anything was "pandering" it was attaching his name to their thing in the first place.

Real sick of people acting like that dude's a victim because he decided to spout garbage and now is facing some consequences for it. Get over it.

Haven't been to the forums in ages but thought I'd sign in to say I'm very disappointed about Jon being removed from the game as I'm looking forward to seeing who he voiced (I predicted Captial B). I'm a casual fan of him.
That said for the reason why he was dropped is understandable. Nobody wants to be associated with such political comments whether they meant it or not. I'd have done the same as much as it would hurt me.

So, his voice is going to be removed in a patch post-release, or on release? Might play the game without updating it then, at least for the first playthrough anyway, 'cause I know I'll have to update it eventually to get the DLC (if it is worth getting, anyway.)

Well this is a pretty pathetic move on playtonics part.

In "trying to stay politically partial" they have done quite the opposite. Very disappointing.

We all do and say things, sometimes we mean them sometimes we don't. But if we were all to be penalised because of it we'd all be f****d.

In fact thinking about it. Shouldn't all Grants music be removed because he's constantly posting strong hate towards the president of the US. This confirms that playtonic hold far left views and anyone that doesn't can't be involved in thier games.

Seriously lost respect for them.

This has nothing to do with "SJWs" or "political correctness", JonTron said that he believes that black people are inherently violent, that rich black people commit more crime that poor white people, and that we shouldn't allow "foreigners" to enter the gene pool. What Jon said shouldn't be defended by anyone, it is overtly racist and Playtonic is in the right to not want to be affiliated with that. The only "statement" being made by Playtonic is that they don't tolerate intolerance, but somehow people have gotten it in their head that not tolerating intolerance is intolerance, it's not. Jon is allowed to have his offensive and frankly incorrect beliefs, but he is not free from the ramifications of his words. Racist beliefs should not be normalized as "a different opinion" or "a different ideological view". This isn't a case of someone making an offensive joke, this is someone who said that they personally believe these racist things, things no rational person should be okay with defending.
If the people upset by this are sooo worried about tolerating other people's views I'd LOVE to see what they think of ISIS (or any other horrible groups or individuals throughout time), because by their logic we should just let them be.

This is so dumb... I just don't understand how Jon's political views change the value of his work. Do you realize, that Jon's content, where he talks about banjo, basically promotes your game. Way to ruin the hype for the game.

Or wait... Are you doing this to get media coverage about your game? Yes, I see now. You, likely, don't even care what JonTron said, for you it's just a marketing opportunity, which makes it even worse.

While I understand why Playtonic did it, I still think the backlash is worse than if they didn't do anything.

It also feels like people on both sides are coming out of the woodwork to discuss this, civilly and uncivilly, who had no vested interest in this game before.

I feel bad for Playtonic at the moment.
