Favorite Rare Music

Postby Gorjo » Sat Mar 25, 2017 11:35 pm

so I decided to make another one.

Mine are probably going to be obvious, but Aquatic Ambiance from the first DKC is really something else. It may have influenced my choice of avatar.

Then there is Treasure Trove Cove from BK. Just perfect.

I like an awful lot of Rare music but some standouts:

DKC2 - Mining Melancholy

Those industrial drums are iconic, first of all. Anything with that factory-esque percussion is usually really good. I also really like the chords in the song that compliment the rhythm. And it combines that catchiness with a really soothing melody with soft but rich tones.

Banjo-Kazooie - Click Clock Wood

It's a jaunty, memorable tune, and I love how the ambient noises compliment the melody as well as the level. I think that's why, despite being the final regular level and kind of a pain at times, Click Clock Wood stands out as one of my favorite levels.

Diddy Kong Racing - Main Theme

As cool as it is having a medley of instruments to represent each character, I mostly put this on my list just for nostalgia value lol

I'm sure there's more. I'll think of it later.

Speaking of Diddy Kong Racing, the menu theme is my favourite piece (from all the I know, I don't have much memory of that game). Here's a nice remix of it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YW5ku_TKkQY

And I can't stop repeat it: If you love Banjo-Kazooie music, support Blake Robinson & buy his Banjo-Kazooie Symphony album on iTunes or wherever. It's really a craft of love and effort and features all the music in very lively sounding orchestral versions. It's really crazy when you realize that this orchester is not a real one. My favorites are definitely the epic version of Rusty Bucket Bay, Click Clock Woods with all its seasons in one track and Grunty's Medley, which features all world-themed variations of the overworld theme and sounds like an acoustic tour through the lair, check it out: http://www.banjosymphony.com

Some previews:

Bubblegoop Swamp https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1K9WjLmmHys
Jolly Roger's Lagoon https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2IwG7ZP0Z5E

I'm so looking forward to Banjo-Tooie Symphony, which is why I want to push support for his existing work.

I really have trouble pinpointing a favorite track. Especially Grants music and choice of instruments has something magical for me that makes every track worthwhile.

I sometimes start humming or whistling Mad Monster Mansions theme out of nowhere.

This may be slightly heretical but I really loved the music in Viva Pinata, fit the game so well.
