How should you enter worlds?

Postby Krockhead » Sat Mar 14, 2015 7:59 pm

Should the levels be accessed through a portal-type thing, like Gruntilda's Lair in Kazooie and DK Isles in DK64, or should it all be one seamless, interconnected world, like the Isle O' Hags in Tooie? I like both styles, but I prefer the concept of the Tooie way, although I think Kazooie executed what it tried to do better than Tooie did. Needless to say, I'd like to see them give the Tooie style a crack again.

I'm not sure I understand what you mean exactly. Tooie still used portals to enter worlds. I guess the level entrances were a bit more realistic in Tooie, if that's what you mean? (Compared to, say, Treasure Trove Cove's treasure chest entrance).

I guess my only request would be for exotic and interesting level entrances.

I loved Grunty's Lair on Bk, but wasn't a fan of the overworld in DK64 (too open, huge and not much of interest to see). So, a nice in-between of Tooie and Kazooie would be perfect, I think.

Funny thing about Gruntilda's Lair, it kind of reminds me of a theme park. When you're at the entrance to, say, Treasure Trove Cove it looks almost like a 'stage set' until you actually enter the level and it all comes to life, same for every other level.

I wouldn't mind a variety of entrances. Portals, falling from the ceiling, being fired in through a washing machine door, anything :P

Now you're thinking with portals!

They entraces should be world specific like in bk/bt for example: treasure trove cove - chest, gobys valley - palmtree, freezezy peak - a giant advent calendar, terrydactyland - giant triceratops head etc. I dont really liked the portals in dk 64.

I like both. It's easy to assume that it's gonna be like Banjo-Kazooie because that's how it has always been done. But given that they want to make levels that grow with new areas to unlock, I can imagine a game just like Metroid Prime but as a 3D platformer, could be quite amazing as well. Metroid Prime managed to have very thematic areas while being a kind of single huge world.

It depends on how the worlds are connected. If there are some parts where you can see later levels or unreachable areas like in B-T, the level entrances should also give the feeling of a huge connected world. If the worlds are more compact and not really connected to each other, the entrances should be more abstract (like in B-K).

Since this game seems to resemble B-K rather than B-T, the entrances might be similar to the ones in B-K.

Like in Banjo Tooie, interconnecting worlds would be pretty neat too, with passages linking between the worlds that can serve as shortcuts later in the game, or be used to further the plot. :)

Would love to see it like Kazooie/Tooie. Needs to be a big, explorable Hub world. With World specific Items that you would touch, jump into etc. to teleport to the World.

I would love to see A LOT of secrets in the HUB World. All the usual Items and areas. But also Secret Level entrances!

Similar to Mario 64, Like the "Ordinary" Walls you could find, and jump into. A lot of secrets like that would be welcomed for sure

I loved the themed structures of the Original Banjo Kazooie. I'd love for that to return.

I loved the Banjo Kazooie themed entrances and rooms that the entrances were in. I would love to see that return in Ukulele.

I like the idea of a seamless entry, But I just mean no leading screen. Basically you would have to walk through a specific entrance to get to a specific level, but there would be no loading screen, you could just walk right in.

Not sure if that is even possible, but it would be way cool!

Giant books with a lot of golden Pagies missing so the books look vandalized, scratched up, and ripped! Uko and Lei-Lei open the heavy cover, flatten like a bookmark, and slip within the pages, absorbing inside the book!

Once I see the character models and the world they are going for, that's the only way I can determine how they should enter....is what I'd say if I was lame!

Hopefully something memorable!

If one of the characters is a chameleon, it would be cool if they fazed in from being invisible to visible, but in a super animated way.
